The Blessings of Fortuna
From my heart the richness of the cosmos
pours out into the earth
and into the sea
as a cornucopia of light, beauty and joy.
May the enchantment of my wings
brush across your brow
with a slice of the moonshine
and the magic
of abundance in your dreams
that shine more brightly
in the sunlight.

I live in a Village of Goddesses
I Live in a Village of Goddesses
When I was a child
this village was filled with simple men and women:
fishermen catching halibut off the shores,
beekeepers tending the bees,
Hatmakers making the hats,
Farmers harvesting squash and potatoes,
cooks frying slivers of garlic in the pan.
As we grew up, we studied algebra, physics, and science,
geology, philosophy, world history.
We read Homer, Dante, Virgil, and Ovid.
We gave our imagination
to the mythologies of our studies:
As Zeus
I became the Swan to Leda.
I was Pygmalion, and she Galatea.
We became the very gods and goddesses
that we studied.
I reflect today that I am not a god but a farmer,
An artist, a builder of structures.
I am a simple man.
And yet, all around me the women
remain as goddesses,
Flowers wrapped around their bodies.
I see goddesses everywhere I look!
How fortunate that I live in a village of goddesses!
Truly, there is a bountiful abundance of divinity
to worship everywhere I look!
Why is it, then, that my strong desire
on this night
is to sleep under the moon
with a simple, earthy woman?
A woman that reminds me of the soil,
lusty, natural, grounded and unadorned.

Re-Charting: Sacred Backdrops
Orange layers painting as backdrop;
hung colors of sacred rite like of wet towels.
Tonight I saw a "devotional dance," linage of Odissi,
busy as a performance; more like entertainment via dance.
With finesse written intro; bragging rights and all the info
and prayers no where to be found.
Even sacred adornments worn as in performance
were immediately advertised and sold; astound.
This invocation to Lord Shiva
treated like the diva of the divine.
Sacred mudras were said to be shown.
Photos taking prohibited; so consecration weren't blown.
But I couldn't help myself leaving the blessed
by documenting devoties ignoring their own message;
sanctification has been tested, admiration renounced.
They sneaked photos and videos as part their own undertaking;
an invocation of what I've recorded as Rupia's raking.
Even if we make pole dancing sacred,
so no one would feel guilty for going half naked.
At least we would not have to fake it; knowing
every creation and expression is divine.
We just need to remind ourselves of devotion
a one person engagement; barely works with weddings of two.
Symbol of devotion, an abstract of the mind; made to enable self.
Truly a sacred blessing for all and Godly if the community now felt.
Wanting control or to design mysticism
might just end up in karmic of self criticisms.
Spirituality will be the last thing the mind control;
soon we will realize to just live life and feel bold.
Why I know this to be true?
That Shiva was unhappy about this
performance was announced not finished; jammed up by music disc.
Apologies were even made... sacredness "felt" untrue; worst yet explained.
finds this Om Sherif uninspired; alluding performances with fading rhymes.

Charting Two: Flame is the first metaphor
Flame is one of the oldest metaphor; if not the first. The word "flame" in definition is metaphoric in itself. We alluded this word with passion, love and/or faith in god. These are all meta-ideals of ourselves; therefore, metaphorically, we are that flame.
In my reflections and meditation of this metaphor, "the flame," one often allude to the light; to see darkness that surround it and/or shed light on the matter. I have found this not to be true! It is not the dark the flame want to seek and fill with light, rather the flame want to fill the space with the warmth that radiates, even if light cannot be found.
I see so i can feel! Feeling is still the first purpose of light; or in this case, feeling of warmth from the flame.

Charting One: Source of creations
In the past couple of days of full moon I have been to a three ceremonies which open my eyes to the source of creations. The metas are made very clear both in the known and unknown; the reality and myth, as well as, the self and the universe.
76 days Visions and Revolutions | Source of Creations Xfrasis from Hai Dai on Vimeo.
Although the "Shiva Linga" ceremony was not made clear to me in the literal sense (including the name); but in my findings after the experience and the poem was written based my reflections, how uniquely in parallel the poem was to the mythology of it… and of course it would!
Source of Creations Xfrasis
At the source of all creations
there is a symbol; an offering
for the divine
WE, You and I
adorned it; a soft glow
encompasses the universe
form one absolute totality;
a true essence that brings unity
by acceptance of being.
it is the most creative endeavors;
full of imagination without fears
full of imagination without fears
we bathed it in the milk of life
decorate it with the blossoms from mother earth
sprinkle it with rice and delicate intentions.
share fire with it and bless it in water
sing, praise and dance with it
it heals; creates selfless love with others
accepting all of Universe as a divine being
all part of the natural balance
in harmonious state of existence; perfections.
WE, You and I
share the same equality of its creations
share the same equality of its creations
that why it's call the source.

Charting Course (finding lights)
We have alluded toward "light" as a metaphor
76 Days Visions and Revolutions | Charting Lights Xfrasis from Hai Dai on Vimeo.
for as long as man's existence;
now "charting course" the artist shared
"fly to the sun" my friend Piero posted
so in my meditative journeys i fly toward the bright orb
the source; i find myself bright as the sun
and alluding towards a warmth radiance place
then to find myself… like nature
through a process similar like one of photosynthesis
and in reaping the sun blessings; through the nature in me
creates not only for the air we breath
but for the experience of being alive.

Stationary Voyager with Velocity
Stationary Voyager with Velocity
The winds race strongly, directly at my whole body
I lean myself against the wind's force on the mountain's
highest stone. I spread my arms
and suspend my body over the edge, held in wind.
Thin belts of fog race toward me through blue.
On this outcropping in the sky,
I am standing on the helm of a boat.
I am a stationary voyager with velocity,
The wind surges over the bow and hull,
crashes over me
as I seek my supreme destination.

Living Lucid
Everything is fusing into something else… similar as one liquid substance with another; there is a chemistry happening… call it what you like... here share mine:
"Garden of Dreams"
it starts with seeds
a vision; hand points at mouth
painter's arms needing an arm rest
pomegranate seeds has many facet
and wants to be eaten
picked hibiscus flower, fluttering
hand turns a page; face down
bursting; wanting to smell its essence
soaked in curvaceous vase
buzzing like wild honey bees
absorbed in their activities
straight lines yearning to scribble
lovely curly ones too!
pillars planted among tall grass
with the backdrop of high mountain
to create foundations for red altar;
offerings for the divine
our seeds want to share with sacredness;
yearning to be lucid.

Inspiration is my Expression
My "Ekphasis" process based on the Greek philosophy of poetry (which i have coined as Xfrasis for today's digital age), gives the best insights to its meaning of "art within art"; where one medium inspire another medium and through its translations, transmit beauty and inspire creative poetics.
To me, this flow of creativity, "energy" via Xfrasis is not just about the "art within art" but rather a cyclical process of "blessings giving thanks" and/or visa versa. Through imagination and creativity (possibilities) and the act of giving (sharing); where imagination and creativity in the process is the real blessings and the artifact is a way of giving thanks.

Return to Now (Home)
What i love about the "revolution" of the digital mediums is that it can encompasses all the different types of other traditional mediums. If "The medium is the message" is a phrase coined by Marshall McLuhan meaning that the form of a medium embeds itself in the message" is TRUE then the message of the digital mediums is about diversity and can be easily integrated.
This medium can act as a glue to connect, weave and layered new expressions; allowing mediums to interface within its collaborations. It's fluidity of integrating differences (in this case content of expressions) can allude us toward new understandings of sharing and relating.
Perfect timing for today's time in the sharing of resources and in the fusion of globalization!

Our Heart Song Returns
by Zayra Yves
by Zayra Yves
On the wings
of grace
our heart song
returns
with the beauty
of places
she has been
now
transformed by
the golden goodness
of souls
who opened
for her warmth.
She returns
on fire
with the purity
of spirit,
with the sweetness
of those
she has loved
lingering
on her lips
and the charm
of life
in the swing
of her hips.
She arrives
as new love
right into the center
of your being
where you gratefully
embrace her,
welcome her
home.

Prayer
What we find sacred, wisdom and/o enlightenment comes in many facets. Like a gem with many sparkling sides. In my Ekphrasis of this dance and visual presentation, a literal translation of "a prayer" was used to describe this dance expression. There is one thing I am sure of; that is whatever the eyes of the beholder who want to translate this performance and give it literal meaning must showcase the dance sense of brilliancy and sacredness; hence this too is like a gem, also precious.

use me, abuse me, amuse me.
take me lightly,
empower me,
give yourself to me
as if you are nothing.
it is not you that is acting, creating, making.
it's me.
you use me
to feel.
you use me
to play artist
for a day
for a moment.
each time you pick up the brush
moosh the clay
stroke the keyboard
tickle the strings
or sing
i am your muse
and i give myself freely.
but you must commit
to love me fully,
give me sovereignty,
be delighted in my dance,
and believe in me
(if only for fun).
then, i will show you the way
to embrace your deepest desire
and have manifest the perfect art.
our hunger is the same,
our satiation divine.
give yourself to me
so that you can use me.
i am your muse.
My vision for the 76 day Kaupo artist retreat is to hold a space for new breakthrough. In this project, I commit to trusting and honoring my heart. I will seek out the broken open and embrace.
My geographical presence is in stark contrast to Kaupo. I am tethered to you with my feet touching down on the west coast of the mainland from the suburban capital of Valencia to the inland hills of Grass Valley.
I'm embracing new as well as familiar mediums with no expectations. I offer my support for your artistic expansion in whatever way that is supposed to happen. I'm in alignment with the mystery of this project.
I'll see you on Maui at the beginning of December.

Devotion
I find it healing to create and express. It allows me to reflect like one of a prayer; of the devoted things that is most dear to me. Usually it's in the reflections of the relatedness within that moment; and it all starts with me!:)
Normally, if i'm creating, it is because i am not complete. This incomplete feeling is not exemplify as one of discourse but rather more of a "natural living process." In this natural living process of finding completion via creativity and expression, i find balance again (even if temporary) and that what makes my life infinite. It is infinite because it is never complete! From finding diplomacy within a conversation and/or a creative expression project to better reflect in relatedness of things, I can be invincible!

Grace
Defined as "Simple elegance and/or refinement of movement." Nature and its surrounding has an implicit way in presenting grace. When even i have a need and/or want to exude grace, i simply look to nature. This was one of the many collaborative expressions shared at our first dinner; one which i find most graceful! Blessed the full moon and its metaphors of light.

Sincerity
Hai Dai - Father, Partner, Friend, Ekphrasis poet in perceptions; in truth, just "aware."
To sincerely be present in the now. To invoke sincerity starting with truth so we can better allude the metaphors of this moment; to be fully aware in the next! Sincerity with the intelligences of the heart so I can better interconnect via relatedness. I joined the 76 Days Visions and Revolutions with the premise to "SHARE" and contribute in the rEVOLUTION against the logical mind and its derivatives of the literal intelligences. The evolution of Ekphrasis poetry ("art within art"), where poetry exists when one medium translate another medium, is now possible with the advent of today's digital tools. I feel the mediums in which I expresses my creativity allude to my processes of well being and how it activate my intelligences. This sincerity of my intelligences is where magic begins!

the Artist ( four of thirtysix..)(another four)
Lauren Harris
:artist: ceramicist/ painter /curator / word weaver
Intention: To embrace and harness the energy and momentum of these 76 days into a tangible beauty.
The word woven into a a fabric of impressions; dusted from charcoal on to a page, and solidified in earthly clay.
To contribute this quantum leap in the self and as a collective, to a wider circle: imbuing more people with the gift of stepping outside their regular flow of life, into their own creative dance.
The focus will be on the ritual and ceremony of tea. The simple art of a peaceful moment, folded into the makings of a tea pot, and unfolded each time a cup of tea is poured.
I will endeavor to produce 76 tea pots in celebration of the simple moment.
"Practice Peace, Drink Tea" ~ Samovar
"From Hawaii to London, through Tokyo, Paris, Los Angeles, Tuscany...a quest for music, love, life, beauty, laughter, friendship brings us here as we embrace the day. To create the words, the chords, the visions, the dreams.’
- Danielle Delaunay, singer, songwriter, actress, model.
I am here to do my part in building Utopia: a community of equals joined by of expression, understanding, compassion and beauty.
Joti Mangat
Writer & Musician
The vision I hold is of Song and Fragrance, "A Tavern Of Ruin"! (rumi)
I will write Five new songs for this 76 day collective
With this radiant full moon upon us, I also include a new perfume ~ Midnight Sun ~
"Some Flowers only bloom where there is no sun
some notes only sound in silence
some love only blossoms in the dark"
~ words from my upcoming song ~ "Sandalwood Mountain"
I continue to unfold, as inspiration moves herself through me
Some days are heavy, tired, full of questions, raw
The next, as night turns to day is filled with lightness, ease, knowing every cycle is grace unfolding
I pray for humility and love to envelop me laughing
to share these gifts with all of you, is the greatest joy I know.
"How the fragment of a melody
or the fragrance of a flower will evoke forgotten memories,
filling the soul with sadness, as though vague remembrances from other lives are passing over spirit."

Gathering energy
A peak moment in the first phase of the 76 days project - a gathering of 12 travelers at table to take stock of the task at hand, to leave behind for three lunar cycles the routine assumptions and behaviours that define our daily lives and to strive for something glorious.
The first performance, Ashana & Danielle in a duet of cello and voice, brought us into a Baroque salon without walls under the moon. It was at once chilling and sublime - a simultaneous expression of female symmetry.
Darkness, not discomforting but resolutely dark

Darkness, not discomforting but resolutely dark
Browns, Grays and Black, the secret structures that bind us to the past, to the origin
Can light penetrate this chamber? Will its shafts touch down on my face, my retina?
A Cathedral inverted, inner space suspended by Tuscan columns, no walls, no roof, no confinement

My vision: I love to dance on the ground and in the air, I am most joyous when I sing from my heart's desire, I design and make costumes and love to decorate the space around me either in my home or for the stage, I collaborate to produce music, dance pieces, still and moving visual images and am most drawn to creating and sharing 'movement in nature' as my artistic expression.
Aloha Piero,
In working with a site or space I seek to understand what has happened there, what signs, what life and wisdom has already been activated at that place. This is a search for potential and embedded energy, a search for inspiration and vision. I use this work to explore space and place, an attempt to pry open new thoughts and seeings of what is before and around me. These interventions are created as an opportunity to provoke thought, wonder and imagination. This is a chance to observe, create and play. This is an opening to find out what is and what can be. The art, if there is any, are the thoughts that are provoked and explored. The objects, the interventions, are secondary to what I hope will happen in the mind through this journey.
I think of myself as an interventionist, a spatial architect and a playful fool.
Thank you so much for bringing us together and for being an inspiration and mentor to us all. What you are doing is a very beautiful and very special thing. I am deeply honored and excited to be part of this.
Many mahalos,
John Cassel

Visions.....
A Federico Fellini, director, quote: The Visionaries are the only true Realists.
We are giving ourselves to the great Waters of creativity, our collective voyage progressing.......
Heading out to pick up my lump of clay, to begin being lost within loam.... and burst forth with new form. Today, I become clay...
Black cedar drips through my mind,
the echo of you in a teaspoon of honey and again in the sweet breath of the night.

~ Day 7 ~
(10/13/10)
adjusting the images
arranging the song
encouraging the movement
preparing to present
considering playing with fire
submerging into the ocean
~ Day 8 ~
Louder today
Us is present
Despite the vulnerable neck
The spin cycle stays broken
Gorgeous freshness
Dreamtime calls
